The Edge Of Tomorrow

 The Edge OF Tomorrow

Edge of Tomorrow is a 2014 American science fiction action film starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, and Brendan Gleeson (retitled as Live. Die. Repeat.: Edge of Tomorrow on home media). The tale is adapted from Hiroshi Sakurazaka's 2004 Japanese light book All You Need Is Kill, which was directed by Doug Liman and written by Christopher McQuarrie and Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. The film is set in a future where an extraterrestrial race has taken over most of Europe. Major William Cage (Cruise), a public relations officer with little military experience, is pushed to join a landing operation against the aliens by his superiors, only to find himself trapped in a temporal loop while attempting to destroy the invaders.

Edge of Tomorrow was advertised for over $100 million by Warner Bros. It was released in 28 territories on the weekend of May 30, 2014, and 36 more regions a week later. Critics appreciated the plot, direction, action sequences, and Cruise and Blunt's performances, and the picture garnered favorable reviews. During its theatrical run, it grossed over $370.5 million worldwide.

Movie info-

A race of extraterrestrials called Mimics have taken over continental Europe. In five years, Humanity only has one victory at Verdun and has only managed to hold the Mimics at the English Channel. In England, Major William Cage is ordered to cover Operation Downfall, the next day's amphibious assault on France. Cage objects to the dangerous assignment and threatens to put the blame on Brigham if the landing fails.

Despite his inexperience and incompetence, he is able to anticipate events before they happen. He repeatedly dies on the beach and wakes up at Heathrow, only to return to the beach the next morning. Finally, he encounters the famous Sergeant Rita Vrataski, who tells him to locate her the next time he "wakes up".

Cage learns that the Mimics operate in a hive mind and the act of killing the Mimic in his first loop, an "Alpha", causes time to be turned back 24 hours. Cage acquired this ability when he died doused in the Alpha's blood. Vrataski had herself gained this ability and became an effective killer of Mimics, but lost it after receiving a blood transfusion after she was wounded. The Mimics' hive mastermind, the "Omega", is their leader and must be destroyed.

Over many time loops, Vrataski trains Cage to make him a more formidable soldier. After they reach a point where she dies no matter what he does, Cage decides to hunt the Omega alone. When he finally reaches the dam, he discovers that the Omega is not there. Realizing that the vision was a trap, Cage kills himself.

Cage and Vrataski's mission is to retrieve a device that will allow them to learn the location of the Omega. During the pursuit, they discover that the Omega is under the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, but are both injured. Cage is given a blood transfusion, which destroys his ability to reset time.

They sacrifice themselves to get beneath the Louvre and destroy the Omega. Just as they are about to defeat the Omega, an Alpha steps between them and the Omega's core.

Mimic activity has ceased following a mysterious energy surge in Paris. Cage travels to Heathrow on his own, where others treat him with respect due to him being an officer. He finds Vrataski, who is as curt to him as in previous loops.
