Extraction 1

Extraction 1

The 2020 American action movie Extraction is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, Fernando León González, and Eric Skillman. Sam Hargrave, making his feature directorial debut, is the film's director while Joe Russo is the writer. Chris Hemsworth, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, David Harbour, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and Randeep Hooda—who is making his feature film debut overseas—are among the film's cast members. In the movie, an Australian black operations mercenary is sent to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to rescue the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord. However, when he is betrayed, the mission goes wrong.

The Russo Brothers intended to bring the story to the movie, thus they decided to directly adapt the 2014 graphic novel for the screen in their 2018 announcement that the film was in development. The film and the graphic novel's source material differ in a few ways, although the general plot is mostly kept. On April 24, 2020, Netflix released Extraction. It was met with mixed reviews and in its first four weeks of release, over 99 million people watched it on the streaming service, making it the most-watched original film in its history.

⚠ SPOIL ALERT

Movie-

Son of Indian drug lord Ovi Mahajan Sr., who is serving a prison sentence, Ovi Mahajan Jr. slips out of his home to go to a club with a friend. When they visit the garage after the party to smoke, they run upon dishonest police officers who are employed by rival Bangladeshi drug lord Amir Asif. They grab Ovi Jr.'s pal and shoot him dead.

Saju Rav, Ovi Jr.'s protector and a former lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army Para Special Forces, visits Ovi Sr. in prison after learning of this. Ovi Sr. asks Saju to collect his son, threatening to kill Saju's own son if he refuses, because he is hesitant to pay the ransom or give up his territory to Amir. After all, doing so will damage his reputation.

To rescue Ovi Jr. from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tyler Rake, a former Australian Army SASR operator turned mercenary, is enlisted by Nik Khan, his fellow mercenary partner. Ovi Sr.'s men have agreed to reimburse Tyler and Khan's team for their efforts when Ovi Jr. is well enough to be extracted.

Tyler takes Ovi Jr. to the extraction spot, murders his captors, and saves him. As soon as Asif finds out about Ovi Jr.'s escape, he gives Colonel Rashid, the local police chief, the order to immediately put Dhaka under lockdown, guarding all bridges and exits. As it turns out, Ovi Sr.'s bank account has been frozen by the police, meaning he never had the money to pay the mercenaries in the first place. As a result, his men purposefully fail to transfer the money.

In an attempt to defraud the mercenaries of their money and free Ovi Jr., Saju murders Tyler's teammates and attempts to assassinate Tyler. Khan instructs Tyler to leave Ovi Jr. since the contract has been void and arranges for a helicopter to retrieve him from outside the city. Haunted by memories of his own son, whom he abandoned because he could not bear to see him suffer from lymphoma any longer, Tyler is unwilling to let go of Ovi Jr.

Tyler defeats a group of youngsters commanded by Farhad, a young criminal hoping to gain Asif's favor, after evading Saju and the dishonest Dhaka Metropolitan Police tactical units under Asif's payroll. After making a call to his friend Gaspar, a former American squad member who now resides in Dhaka, Tyler and Ovi Jr. spend the evening hiding out at Gaspar's house.

Asif has put a $10,000,000 bounty on Ovi Jr., which Gaspar exposes and wants to share with Tyler in exchange for letting him kill the youngster. He declines and engages Gaspar in combat; Gaspar takes the upper hand, but Ovi shoots Gaspar with his own gun, killing him. Tyler phones Saju and begs for his assistance, deciding that all that matters is saving the boy. Together, they manage to get out of Dhaka.

After guiding Ovi Jr. and Saju through a bridge checkpoint while disguised, Tyler diverts attention to them so they can conceal their escape. From the other side of the bridge, Khan and her surviving mercenaries approach, as Asif observes from a distance through binoculars. During the subsequent gunfight, Khan shoots Rashid, who then shoots Saju, killing her. Hurt, Tyler gives Ovi Jr. the order to sprint to Khan's waiting aircraft. Following a critically injured Tyler, he is shot in the neck by Farhad and tumbles into the river upon seeing Ovi Jr. unharmed. Khan, Ovi Jr., and the extraction team flee to Mumbai in search of protection.

After eight months, Khan finds Asif in a bathroom and kills him with a gunshot. In the meantime, Ovi Jr., who has returned to Mumbai, imitates the scenario where Tyler is introduced in the movie chronologically by diving into the swimming pool at his school to try to hold his breath. When he comes to, a man who looks like Tyler is watching him in a fuzzy vision.
